Common questions

Where are the speed cameras in Los Angeles?

The city is installing 125 speed cameras across all 15 council districts, on streets with high rates of speeding and speed-related crashes. Every location is on the map above and in the full list on this site.

Are LA speed cameras live yet?

Yes. The first cameras switched on October 26, 2026. As of October 28, 2026, 26 are sending warning notices and 99 are still being installed. The city plans to have all 125 running by the end of 2026.

How fast do I have to go to get a ticket?

You get a ticket at 11 mph or more over the posted limit. On a 35 mph street, that's 46 mph or faster.

How much is an LA speed camera ticket?

$50 for 11 to 15 mph over, $100 for 16 to 25 mph over, $200 for 26 mph or more over, and $500 for 100 mph or faster.

Is there a warning period?

Yes. Each camera sends warning notices only, with no fine, for its first 60 days. The 60 days start when that camera switches on, so cameras added later get their own warning period.
